Good Faith Estimate
Beginning January 1st, 2022, individuals are entitled to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" detailing the anticipated costs of their medical care.
According to regulations, healthcare providers need to furnish patients without insurance or those not utilizing insurance with an estimate of the expenses associated with medical items and services.
Your entitlement encompasses a Good Faith Estimate for the comprehensive projected cost of any non-emergency items or services, encompassing ancillary expenses such as medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
You may ask your healthcare provider for a written Good Faith Estimate at least one business day before your scheduled medical service or item. Additionally, you may request a Good Faith Estimate from your healthcare provider or any chosen provider before scheduling any item or service.
Should you receive a bill exceeding your Good Faith Estimate by at least $400, you are within your rights to dispute the bill. It is advisable to retain a copy or image of your Good Faith Estimate.
For inquiries or more details regarding your entitlement to a Good Faith Estimate, refer to http://www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
